Messages of support flooded in after her message on social media, where her huge following includes 424,000 Instagram fans.

Jones is a devout Leeds United supporter who joined the Beeb three years ago.

“I’m taking time away from work/life to focus on getting back to full strength. I’ll be back soon.”

She has a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism and began her career as a freelance journalist for Channel 5 News.

Since then Jones has been a travel reporter and presenter on radio as well as for her beloved Whites.

Well-wishing responses swarmed in after her health announcement.

Legendary ex-Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling posted: “Sorry to hear that. Hope things improve soon.”
