In a recent Instagram post, BBC Look North presenter Abbie revealed to her 31.2K followers the temporary set-up put in place for filming the latest instalment of BBC North West Tonight.

In the clip, the camera panned across a small office space and then into another space that had been transformed into the famous red sofa newsroom, with the words “Check out this temporary ‘broom cupboard’ style BBC News studio.”

As the video cuts to Abbie concluding her weather segment, the words “vs. what you see at home” appeared on the screen.

The presenter then joined her co-host, Roger Johnson, on the infamous sofa as he said: “Have a seat, so what do you think of the broom cupboard?”

To which Abbie replied: “It’s snug, it’s very cosy.”

Roger giggled and responded: “That’s one way of putting it, isn’t it? It is a bit cosy, some people are saying I’m not loud enough.”

Abbie then took a swipe at her colleague as she jokingly said: “Oh, that makes a change.”

The pair giggled as the 55-year-old replied: “Thank you. That’s exactly what I thought.”

He then added: “I’ve been here for a short time. The builders are in the main place, of course,” as Abbie interjected, “Sprucing it up.”

Roger continued: “Sprucing it up, it will be great when it’s done, but please bear with us and thank you as always for your company tonight.”

Abbie captioned the post: “What do you think to the temporary set-up for North West Tonight?

“I find the fact that the BBC engineers can create a TV studio out of a small section of an office so fascinating – and that we can broadcast live from something that’s been cobbled together!

“I weirdly prefer it… but then I do love change. And cosiness, is that odd?”

Stunned fans quickly took to the comments section and penned down their surprise at how a broom cupboard was transformed into a newsroom.

Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?

The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:

Jon Kay– Since 2022

Sally Nugent– Since 2021

Charlie Stayt– Since 2006

Naga Munchetty– Since 2014

Carol Kirkwood– Since 1997

One user wrote: “Amazing what you find in a cupboard.”

“Things going downhill in Manchester since you’ve been coming over,” teased another fan as the news correspondent replied, “Hahaha, all my fault!”

A third joked: “No Ed the Duck, no broom cupboard.”

Last year, Abbie posted the BTS clips of her colleague trying to stay calm after the BBC Look North studio was rocked by a serious technical blunder which left the presenter suffering for the “rest of the day”.
