ADAM LALLANA is holding talks with Southampton over a stunning return to St Mary’s after his former club’s Premier League promotion.
Saints returned to the Prem a year after their relegation as they beat Leeds 1-0 in the Championship play-off final on Sunday thanks to Adam Armstrong’s winner.
Lallana, 36, was spotted in the Royal Box at Wembley cheering his old team on as he prepares to become a free agent with his contract at Brighton running out on June 30.
According to The Telegraph, the playmaker is already in the frame to come back to the Hampshire outfit a decade after his departure.
That would make the former England international Russell Martin’s first Premier League signing ahead of next season.
That’s after Southampton‘s promotion triggered a £20million obligation to sign Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City.
Lallana joined the club’s academy at the age of 12 and spent six years within the youth ranks.
The ex-Liverpool star received his maiden senior call-up in 2006 and went on to enjoy an impressive eight-year stint, which saw him spend a few months on loan at Bournemouth in 2007.
The attacking midfielder amassed a total of 60 goals and 45 assists in 265 appearances.
That led to a £25m move to Liverpool in 2014 and he went on to win the Premier League as well as the Champions League under Jurgen Klopp.

Lallana registered 22 goals and the same amount of assists in 178 appearances with the Reds.
The versatile midfielder left Anfield in 2020 for Brighton and helped the club rise to prominence.
Lallana helped the Seagulls secure a place in the Europa League, which marked their first ever European qualification.
But he is now set to leave after four goals and four assists in 104 appearances with the Seasiders.
